I went to three different places today, all of them on the subway line. And, I didn't get lost either! LOL
The first place was Shibuya. This is possibly the world's busiest intersection. When the pedestrian lights all go green, and they do it all at the same time for all 12 directions (you can figure it out), there are hundreds upon hundreds of people crossing all at once. Oh, and the intersection is HUGE. I've tried to capture the crowds crossing in the last few pix here, but I may not have shown it that well.
In any case, the area is mostly up scale shopping with well known international name brands dominating the landscape. And, for some strange reason, there seems to be a "McD's at almost every corner on every street, or so it seems. How strange! The side streets have lesser known stores, but still very well attended.
For me, though, the intersection is best remembered for the fact that it appeared in one of the scenes in the movie "Lost In Translation" (one of my favorite movies) wherein one of the main characters crosses it and there are some pan shots of the corners from the middle of the crossing. The look has changed since the movie was filmed, but seeing it in person was still a nice experience none-the-less. I was also unable to get the, seemingly, iconic ariel view of the intersection either. Meh!
The afternoon sun was warm and it was a nice day.
