Burlesque

Recently, I was invited by Nuffnang to watch the movie Burlesque 10 days before its official screening.

All I can say about this movie is... it was AWESOME!!!

Okay, the the story is basically about Ali (Christina Aguilera), a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA. After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner. Burlesque’s outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingenue, who vows to perform there one day.

Soon enough, Ali builds a friendship with a featured dancer (Julianne Hough), finds an enemy in a troubled, jealous performer (Kristen Bell), and garners the affection of Jack (Cam Gigandet), a bartender and fellow musician. With the help of a sharp-witted stage manager (Stanley Tucci) and gender-bending host (Alan Cumming), Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage. Her spectacular voice restores The Burlesque Lounge to its former glory, though not before a charismatic entrepreneur (Eric Dane) arrives with an enticing proposal…

But anyway, here's a SNEAK PEAK of Christina's performance as the star in Burlesque.

One of the things that caught my eye during the movie was the costumes and makeup. Really pretty and eye-catching so its not only 'bout the singing, but its presentation as well.

I loved the part where at some point of the movie, Jack, Ali's love interest, eventually comes in butt naked with only a box of cookies to cover his... thing.... starts helping himself to the cookies and offers her a cookie, to be polite. While the box is still... there...

Damn Hilarious! Thank goodness he's got a hot body, otherwise it'll be disturbing...

As for Cher, her character, Tess, is more of a mother to Ali. Though she hates to admit it. She's the one in charge of the dancers and their costumes and stuff. Ali was like begging, just begging Tess to let her dance on stage. And she(Ali) looked soo desperate!

Though I can't say that the movie is perfect, I still think its a pretty good movie. It simply just makes you wanna shout Encore!

The official screening of Burlesque is on 17 February 2011. Don't miss it!
