Stanley

All the water shots are of Stanley Bay

This is a nice little restaurant serving real Chinese food. Non-tourist prices. All the other places are geared towards the tourist crowd-read expensive. On the main drag by the boardwalk. They had real fish balls. Not the processed ones you find in the Chinese supermarkets back in Canada. Highly recommended.

I went to Hong Kong island to go to Stanley today. Stanley is a little spit on the south side of the island. It's so reminicent of the French Riviera its amazing. It is almost an exact duplicate of Nice at the boardwalk, if memory serves (with respect to the name, not the look, that is unforgetable).

The bus ride from Hong Kong's Central subway station was quite the adventure. First, the bus terminal is not connected to the station. It's across an overhead pedestrian bridge and then located inside Exchange Square. Bus # 6 took a very nice scenic route through Aberdeen, Repulse Bay, and finally into Stanley. I highly recommend this city bus. You get a chance to see things very nicely. The double decker rides like an amusement park ride, especially on the top deck. Quite the bit of bounce and the wanting to tilt over feeling, especially when the driver guns it on the narrow mountain roads going up and down two mountains. It was fun. Repulse Bay is amazing to see from the top. You can get off, take pix and explore if you want. I didn't as it was cold and kinda wet at times. I can see where the rich live. The last stop is Stanley. You can't miss it.

There is lots to explore here and you can spend days doing it. I only stayed a few hours because the weather was cold and windy. Today was a day of heavier spitting, wind and cold. There is even an old style temple thingy on one of the adjacent hills. Perhaps another time. I still got to see a little part of it, though. I've always looked at going to a place and making note of what I liked for future reference with the idea of going back again one day, one day.
