This question has been posed before but I did not find answers so am posing too: When can one travel safely to India after applying 485?
1) If EAD and AP are filed along with 485, how long will they take to arrive. Service center dates indicate that EAD and AP currently at Jan 07. Does that mean that they are taking over 4 months to issue EAD/AP?
2) There is a an Interim EAD. Is there an interim AP if AP is pending for over 90 days?
3) Is it possible to request EAD/AP at a later time?
4) My H1B is up for reneval in Oct 07. Can I get a 3 year extension on H1, apply for a H1B visa in India and travel back to US on this? Would this be a faster option?
5) When do FP notices typically come out after applying for 485?
6) What is the grace period for FP if one misses the deadline (Is it still 12 weeks? Will the new rule to remove 12 weeks on RFE/NOID have an impact on FP?
7) If you are using an attorney for 485, will all such notices (FP, etc.) go to the lawyer as well. The concern here is that if the notice comes to my home address and I am out of the country then I am liable to miss that appointment.
Please with experience/knowledge, please share your information.

Hello,
My PD has become current as of june visa bulletin and I am eligible to apply for I-484. But currently I am expecting and hence I may not be able to take all the medical exams (X-Rays etc..). Can I still apply for 485 and complete the medical exam later or do they need the complete medical report when I apply for I-485. I would appreciate if anybody can share any info in this regard. Thanks.

As dates will remain current for a while, and when dates retrogress - my take is they may not retrogress to a degree where backlogged applications are dated. So as approvals keep coming out of BECs the PDs of those backlogged till now may be eligible for filing 485.
This is my take. I write this because I understand your frustrations. The game is not over - I have a feeling that a lot of people will be on EAD status for a while
All those who are still waiting in BEC black hole, I feel for you. I was stuck in BEC for four years. Only managed to get out a couple of months ago after they allowed TR cases to be converted to RIR.
I tend to think the same way as chanduv23. Our final goal is a Green card, and it may still turn out that the people who are currently still waiting in BEC may end up getting their GC in hand before many of the ones that can apply for 485 in July.
The reason is that USCIS has clearly stated that it will retrogress big time in September. So, people with recent PDs may get to file their 485 but may have to wait for a long time for their PD to become current again to get the approval notice (folks, I am not wishing ill against any group here! I wish we all got our GCs ASAP. But since that is not going to happen, just trying to analyze facts). On the other hand, if BEC comes through with their sep 07 prediction, then these people with much older PDs may be able to apply for their 140/485 at that time and may end up getting their GC 6-12 months later because their PDs will still be current at the time of approval (Of course, this is assuming that they will not get caught in the Name Check Black hole)
So, all those who are still stuck in BEC, please hang in there, your day of freedom will arrive (maybe sooner than you are currently thinking).

I know , I can not walk 10 miles (Army 10 miles, Washington DC)- forget running.:) Can I still be part of this?
I think, apart from running and walking 10 miles I am able to involve myself doing other expected activities. In my life time I have not walked 10 miles:)..Man, you guys are tough.

I hope USCIS atleast follows the regulations and laws. Coz we just finished with an 18 month debate in the Senate today on law-abiding done by immigrants. And now suddenly USCIS is acting like an undocumented worker ignoring the laws and regulations.

"On August 2, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later."
Do you know what does it mean?:confused:
It means that your wife is approved as well...but don't know why different languages and text for both of you. But nothing to worry about it...

My GC was approved today... I came to the US 10 years back. It's been such a long journey that it's tiring to even think about it. The backlog processing center, re-starting the GC process, Several H1b visa stamps, July fiasco rollercoster... At this point I think I am just tired - not happy, not sad...
