Wow, these have to be the best pixel art designs I have seen created. I voted for soul's because it just simple, angled. I also really liked all the things going on in eilsoe's graphic. If it wasn't for the wall eilsoe (I like cool slanted, twisted things) I would have def voted for your cool graphic. It was more of a tie between both of you guys really =)

Can't we request for a temporary EAD 90 days after you receive the notice ? in the local immigration office (For Example in Boston).

Mallu, I think the opposite would be the case.
Right now the PD is kept at an artificially low range, since neither the USCIS nor the DOS has a clue about how many GCs they are processing. So for the last several years, they were ultimately issuing only around 80,000 GCs even though the quota is 140,000 + 80,000 (from family quota). A wastage of around 140,000 visas per year.
If USCIS can approve a GC after waiting for 120 days (with our with out a response from the FBI), then the GC approval would become much more predictable. Then the PD cut off will be much more realistic, resulting in a much lower wastage of visa numbers.
The end result, the PD would move upward quickly.
If this turns out true, that will be great !!!
One minor side effect is that India EB dates might further retrogress because still there a lot of folks with PD 2001,2002 etc pending namecheck clearance.

I agree with most of the comments, the backlog definitely seems to be the overbearing issue here. The USCIS has faced a great deal of criticism because of this backlog, which many people argue is highly unfair. In the same lines as H1B, could we look into if its possible to add a quota for US Masters degree holders irrespective of country of birth for green Card also. This would be in addition to the existing Employment based quotas.
Does anyone know how they added 20k H1B quota for Masters degree holders? Who sponsored that bill? May be we should talk to the same people.
I would think there would be a little less resistance for this? This would ease the pressure on both EB2 and EB3.
I dont know if this has been previously looked at. I know there were talks of excluding these people from quota all together.

Did you get the medicals? I know it takes time now to get an appointment, and if you want to file the I-485 on your own, please ask if you have questions, I think you can get out of this trap and before the immigration rates hike on July 30th.

I think the AZ is the right thing to force illegal immigrants out of AZ since its bringing the economy down to its knees.
Moreover the AZ law is excatly the same as the current Federal law, its just that AZ is implementing it thru a state law, so why shd the feds object to it.
If you folks think that AZ law is wrong then why should other sanctuary states who prevent illegals from been sent back be allowed to pre-empt the fed law , even these states should be challenged.
We legal citizens are required by fed law to carry legal docs at any time(even though u may not like it), AZ is just enforcing the law

Good opinions can be formed only with good knowledge and we don't need evryone to have an opinion. Most should only subscribe to an opinion otherwise there will only be infighting and no progress.
President Obama just lost a good chance to gain democratic majority in Nov. Now people are saying....why is the fed govt. not letting a state protect its citizens?
Also the fact that a lawsuit is brought against AZ shows that the real wider immigration issue is not to be touched.

I don't think 15-20% drop in 5 years is speculative at least not in California. CNN Money actually predicts a 31% drop in prices in East Bay of SF Bay Area! This is probably the worst time to get into housing market, at least in CA.
But I agree with quality of life issue. Even the most luxurious apartment does not compare with a house. Having a backyard and a garage are the biggest and the best things that apartments do not have. Also, having your own house gives you a sense of belonging. Renting a house won't give you the same feeling. Also, I know more than one friend who used to rent a house but had to move out because the landlord decided to sell when the lease was over.
So apartment doesn't offer the same lifestyle and renting a home might make you move every few years involuntarily. Best thing to so for those in CA itching to live in a house would be to rent a house that the owner is very unlikely to attempt selling. Any ideas on how to determine what houses are actually just rental property and and not really targeted for sale?

Hi guys, here is my case
came to us 8.2003 on f1, completed studies in 02.2006, opt from 02.2006 to 02.2007.
filed h1b petition 07.2006, h1b approved for company a,02.2007 changed to company b 06.2007 approved 01.2008.
company b filed for i140 i485, got EAD, AP and FP done in 2007-2008. i140 not yet approved
Gone to montreal in march 2008 for visa stamping, got 221g, waited for 60 days no positive reply from consulate.
Came back to US on AP, since i had job, could not lose. My questions
1) if i get my h1b visa get approved and stamped hopefully, can i go back to h1b status without losing my EAD, i140 applications. i have about 4.5 years left on h1b. other reason for me wanting h1b is getting married in india.
2) can i file another i140 for the same i485 for back up.
3) I have entered US on AP, do i have use EAD or just work on h1b.
do share your experiences and opinions, I am also working with attorney on these issues, your input and guidance will help to plan for all events.

the person whose posts some are objecting to is not a moderator. he is expressing his own opinions. i'm quite amazed that he has been labeled one or put at par with moderators/administrators by some here.
this is indeed an information sharing forum although that's not all it is. i'm sorry the initial poster never got a reasonable reply. really should have.
as for contribution etc, iv or any moderator is not pushing anyone let alone rudely or being abusive for anything. but lest we all forget, this forum exists because this is a grassroots organization with a commitment to removing retrogression. if that goal gets lost in tourism to the forums, then the forums too will be lost too and very soon. just a gentle reminder for you oh so gentle folks!

The 111th Congress begins its lame duck session on November 15th. The major item on the agenda will be what to do with President Bush�s tax cuts which are set to expire on December 31, 2010. This election was a major boost to the Republicans and it will affect the tone of this session. There are two immigration items on the agenda. Just before the election, Sen. Menendez promised that he would bring Comprehensive Immigration Reform to the floor during this session, and Sen. Reid made a firm promise of a floor vote on DREAM. Sen. Reid won a convincing victory over his rival due to the staunch support of Latino voters in Nevada. Many activists for DREAM worked hard for Sen. Reid�s campaign helping him cinch his victory. We urge Majority Leader Reid to keep his promise for a floor vote for DREAM during the upcoming session. The country is watching to see if the two Democratic Senators will keep their promises.
