C'Etait Bien European Tea House

My next return engagement this past weekend was to C'Etait Bien European Tea House. Yet another place that I visited while a bit under the weather last month. This is one of those trendy, read very expensive, European styled cake and coffee places in Gangnam. Although, their menu has a wide assortment of items, dessert was, as was the last time too, what I was after there.

I can't really say how much better this place is from other cafes as Cafe Bene is usually my favorite cafe. And, the menu items are totally different from each other, so there really is no common ground for comparison. But, for those who love authentic European styled cakes, and I do, this place is as good as any I've been to, including to those while traveling in Europe.

I had the Tiramisu Cake (W4500) and a Green Tea Latte (W5000?) this time around, which is about the same as last time except it was a Mocha Cake (W4500) instead. The cakes were flavorful and rich on both occasions and I had nothing to complain about; rich, smooth, creamy, and flavorful without being overly sweet (something North American copies of the same thing CANNOT say about themselves as they are tasteless while being overly sweet). Although, the non-removal of the plastic backing sheet for the slice of cake was a bit tacky on such nice plates. But, whatever! The tea was nothing special as it tasted about the same as one from Cafe Bene.

The ambience was nice, though. And for those prices, it better be! Anyways, it's a nice "date" place where you can relax on three, or four, floors of comfortable seating. Everything is white inside and outside. Nice private bathrooms, too.

Location:

From Gangnam subway station take exit number 7 and keep walking for a few minutes. You should eventually see a "Canon" camera store (one of only two officially authorized Canon retailers here-the other one is in Namdaemun) on your right hand side. Make a right at the first alley/driveway. Make a left at the main back street you will see up the hill. Then keep walking till you come to the cross streets that meet at an almost 45 degree angle (this is a well known corner). Look to your right hand side and a bit to the left as the street is now at an angle. The white colored building you cannot miss just a few stores inset is the place. Bring your wallet!

Recommended.
