Now the actual tension started to me.
Is my H-1b still valid. I have scheduled travel on August 15'th 2008 via London (LHR). I believe, London airport does not allow any one with out proper visa's and documentation.
Does GC approval triggers automatic canellation of H1-B visa ( which is valid until Dec 2010)
How can I start another GC process , when they just approved a GC ( on August 06, 2008)

I tried to recruit 3 guys with 7-8 yrs of experience. We already have a 12 member offshore team...the average asking rate (H1s and citizens) is 90K ..H1B quota restriction is working in our favor very much. Market rate for IT professionals has increased quite handsomely..put ur resume out to dice or monster and see for urselves.
this 90k is in which part of the US? A salary number without specifying geography is pretty hard to rate :)

AC 21 is complicated, the whole GC process is complicated. Lot of us are thinking 180 days ahead for changing employers.. please think about September 18th. We need to make a difference. Please attend the rally, please contribute, every effort taken by each of you makes a difference. Even if you don't believe you cannot make a change, WE DO! Wake up and lets all go to D.C!

I was wondering if someone will mention F-22.
First of all, F-22 is not for sale. Period. There is no such thing as a close ally as far as F-22 is concerned. Even the Israelis got a curt NO when they wanted to buy it.
Second, IAF does not want the F-22. It is US$ 150 Million a piece which makes it almost twice as expensive as any of the planes being considered. Also, if you look at the IAF's area of operation: F-22 is an overkill. None of the neighboring countries and this includes China has capabilities that will necessitate something like F-22 to deal with.

I think what he is saying demands attention by the lawyers and core members.Thing is we never know what is going on until there is some transparency. The law many times is open to suit ones needs and I suspect DOS may be doing that.

BUt keep in mind that when you enroll in a GROUP insurance which is typically your new insruance with you new company..most of the companies DONT have any restrictions on the pre existing condnitions, per my experience.
however if you buy a individual pocliy they will unload on you a TON of restrictions...no wonder why we see many old people working in Walmart and other places just for insurance..God save us when we get old :)

To go one step further on your point, the whole world should have a better understanding and expectation of employment-based immigration to America. When the fact is out, it is really up to the indivdual to make an informed decision without complainting.
here is the reality:
you came here thinking they will love you because of your math skills.
what actually happened: they took all the credit, and 10-15 years of your career without letting you progress.
we got screwed, plain and simple, by the dreams they showed us. we did not read the fine print. that is why we are half lawyers now.
make sure you teach your children to read the fine print. and try to gauge the intentions of those who are showing you dreams.
this is the same country which talked of equality and fraternity of man and then quietly removed colored people from the definition of humans, and legally accepted slavery.

The 16th district teams needs to be more re-united. I will talk to digital2k and arrange to meet Zoe in few days.
I don't know how many of you have actually visited DC offices and spoken to Congressional Office staff in person (not just sending E-mails or letters). I have been there, and done that. And I intend to continue to do that for myself, my family and the community..
Let me tell you this, if there is anything related to immigration - whether Visa recapture or increase in numbers - it will be with CIR. There was a slim chance for piecemeal legislation in the 110th Congress. There is almost none in the current Democrat-dominated Congress. This is the political reality we have to live with.
The question I was asked by the Congressional staff repeatedly was - 'If so many thousands are impacted, why are we seeing just 4-5 coming to DC asking for help? Why aren't we hearing about from our constituents? Why is it always 'the outsiders' approaching us? Why aren't they visiting us? Why aren't they writing letters to us?'. So many questions with no answers!
Fact of the matter is our community cannot get what it wants unless we willing to pull our butts off the couch and do the dirty groundwork. Just the 50 or so of us dedicated IV leaders cannot work miracles.
We don't have any magic spells or potions in our pockets. We need your help to succeed.

This is by far THE MOST RIDICULOUS suggestion on this forum I have come across.
Sorry man, this wont work for ANYONE out here. We have been waiting since TWO AND A HALF Years to file and now you want us to wait for 15 more days only to realize that USCIS may actually yank the rug out under us. I mean think about it, we will all feel like MONUMENTAL FOOLS if that happens. Try explaining THAT to your spouse who has been waiting for 2 years or more to apply and get an EAD. I know mine would KILL me if i even suggested that to her ;)

Gonzalez said the increase would pay for better facilities, more workers and more training so that applications can be processed faster and by a more courteous and professional staff. He said the improvements would help USCIS cope with a guest-worker program should Congress approve some type of comprehensive immigration reform.
The fee increases will be published today in the Federal Register, beginning a two-month comment period. USCIS expects to process nearly 5 million applications in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.

Yes you are right, there is bound to have EAD flood in market, with spouses of hi-tech worker will come to market to search hi-tech job with spouse phone support. I have seen such cases countless times in past few years and yes they will be in future without exception. However, matter of fact, these fresh EAD (previous H4) don't get the dream job in first attempt, it takes good 2 year to find a similar job that H1b hitech worker does.
But thats the realty of market, every year new jobs are added and every year new job seekers join the crowd.
On the otherside, a hitech worker is suppose to always learning something new and getting his/her position more stronger everyday, its a knowledge market, whoever knows more gets better $$. With my 7yr US exp and total 10 yrs CS exp I have no scare that any single fresh EAD will come close to me. A senior is always a senior no matter which field you talk.
But thats the realty of market, every year new jobs are added and every year new job seekers join the crowd.

Let us use all our networking to best use here. 10K is not a difficult number. When we started this organization, we could not even get 10 people together, but nobody gave up hope.
The success of the rally, this cause and our own greencard issues depends on each one of us. I'm sure we are all capable of sharing this responsibility.
