First of all, the topic of this thread is a total waste of time.
We hardly have enough support, funding, time etc. to fight GC related issue, and here people wasting time on discussing Citizenship! I am politely asking these people if any of you have contributed any of your time/money/effort to IV, Did you? Simply hypocrisy.
And top of that people in this thread are using extreme foul language.

Life sucks with the way things are - why make it worse!!! Who cares what they write - they are probably looking for publcity - writing about outsourcing assures them more readers and more hits!!! also, i am planning on driving (minivan) from florida. so would make sense if there are others coming from orlando region to join. i can pick up members from daytona beach area, jacksonville etc. if someone is coming from south florida, tampa area they can stop by at orlando and we can car pool from orlando. is there a local coordinator for florida ?

Not possible explicitly for EB3.IV is for EB community to support generic issues like CIR etc...Which may help EB2 and EB3.
You really think CIR will happen huh.. Good luck with that ... if Republicans get the majority in house, CIR can Rest In Peace. We all know the two big reasons that would cause Dems to lose the house majority this fall - Economy and Immigration. We also know where Dems stand on immigration - Amnesty and CIR. CIR is not popular among american voters and Republicans will play to that tune when they get the majority. They will spend all the time talking about securing the border and until the border is secure CIR wont be taken up for discussion. That means no CIR for the next few years (atleast until 2012). Anybody wanna bet? ;)
In my opinion, the only way to get out of EB backlog mess is through piecemeal legislation and the current bill ('SKILL Act of 2010' H.R.5658) is one such bill that can bring relief to EB community.

I agree. We need to do something about the ones taking a free ride!!!!
I really like this idea. Core team should give this a serious thought. As macaca pointed out, it wouldn't make a difference to certain ppl, but should motivate quite a few others.

Though I love the recent forum posts being displayed alongside the content on the home page, I think it's also a drag on the resources and takes down the main site at times because of issues with the Forums/DB.
We're all (mostly) techies.... we should be able to fix this and deliver higher SLAs for our web site...
Available to contribute and volunteer if required for this, as the core already knows. :)

One suggestion I have, which is followed by lot of websites with PHP Bulletin boards with high traffic is to use a separate server for boards pointing to something like forums.immigrationvoice.org and keep the main site www.immigrationvoice.org (http://www.immigrationvoice.org) on a separate not so powerful server.
Atleast it ensures that the main site doesn't go down, when forum usage is very high.

There are lot of support and response for this thread and can Core IV team consider this to be included in their Phase 2 campaign?. It will be an added feature for our to be legal immigrant community. ^^ Bump^^
IMHO this would be great. i know i will be here supporting IV even after i get my GC. The truth of the matter is most users disappear as soon as they get their GC and stop supporting the greater cause (correct me if i'm wrong) of getting one's citizenship. I'm pretty sure we will probably see more users joining in to support this phase.
Then there are also the ones, that have the mindset that since getting the GC most of the weight is lifted off ones shoulders, and one can do pretty much (not all of course) anything that a citizen can. So the waiting for 5 years is not a burden to most. I'm not too sure if this is the case with everybody, but some that i know feel that way....

I applied for my wife EAD renewal on May 3, 2010 at Dalls Lock Box Office, following is the message i got from USCIS today:
Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the California Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number
WAC12345678901223. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit USCIS Home Page (http://www.uscis.gov) where you can check the status of your application using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status.
I live in NY and I am not sure why they teansfered it to California. My original I-485 receipt is from california, may be thats why, not sure !!!!!!

What would you do if you suddenly felt 10s of 1000s were misusing the H1b visa and entering the country. We also need to talk to them more and convey our position clearly, irrespective of party.
one necessary part of getting GC relief, is to help them in avoiding abuse of work visas, which will ruin our reputation and make the visa abusers semi-illegal.
There are issues like impractical time for H1 transfer that need to be fixed. 1-2 weeks to find a job is impossible most of the time.
I also edited my first post with much better statistics and new things I learnt in this debate, which will help newbies.

I have not done a lot of analysis... looks like on 9/1 majority of approval were from TSC and 9/2 was NSC.... today again so far TSC... can you call it a pattern?

I don�t know what is so hard about this deadlock. Don�t they know that if:
1. Illegals are given temporary visas for them to return after a number of years, no-body would come forward. The illegals would see this as shooting themselves in the foot. They would prefer to remain in the dark and live here permanently. Purpose defeated.
2. A tough enforcement only bill is passed, with the hope that there would be attrition after a while: How long would it take for all 12 million illegals to finally leave? 1 million per year? 500K per year? 24 years? Yeah right! Ok assuming they leave at a rate of 500K per year (which I know wouldn�t happen) what would be the rate of inflow of more illegals?? What would be the balance of illegals after say 10 years? Think about it.
3. Give them a path to citizenship. Well they are here anyways but this idea might jeopardize the bill.
So my proposal is: Since �a path to citizenship� is the major road block to this bill, make a law that gives the Illegals an opportunity for GC but include in the law that �Anybody that ever comes into the country illegally CAN NOT become a citizen�. i.e they can get a green card but they can never be eligible for citizenship. I am sure this is a reasonable middle ground�. a path to PR but not citizenship. I am sure those illegals don�t care about citizenship anyways. They just want to be free and be mobile.
Just my thots.
