No. Last year we had an RFE as my wife's medicals were missing a signature. As Pappu mentioned in another thread most of them were pre approved and were waiting on visa numbers I think.
Thanks. My case was pre-approved in September 2009 (I have confirmed this fact twice (Infopass and Service Center officer) - now am looking at my inbox, sms, and US CIS account all day, waiting for any sign of approval

I booked my ticket a month ago but haven't yet figured out accommodation and travel within DC. I'm flying into DC on Sunday, 3rd morning.
Is someone looking to share a hotel room? Alternately, is any DC area member still looking to offer a spare sleeping bag? :)
I don't know how the DC area works but would preferably like to stay closer to the event hotel. If not, I'm open to renting a car and sharing cost to get in/out of DC (heard the traffic is a nightmare though).
Please PM me directly or reply here. I'm joining the conference call tonight as well.
I am looking for accommodation too.....lemme know if u still have room.

Honestly I don't even see a point for these discussions, polls or predictions for EB3-I. The sooner we accept we are doomed the better. The only way out is to help ourselves but I don't think many EB3's are willing to do that.
I spoke to several in my office with earlier EB3 PD's (who might not even get GC's in the next 5-10 years !) and of course with EAD's and they have literally substituted EAD for a GC. They were once a part of IV (and some similar org's ?!) but now have completely lost hope and don't care. I tried to motivate them to join IV and support but they feel that IV does not cater to EB3's anymore. Sadly they are not even trying to port to EB2. They are just content with a job and EAD.
So, I am not really sure how many of us are actually willing to fight ?!
In fact it's even worse for people like me who are still waiting to file their I-485. Is it going to take us 5,10 or 20 years just to get an EAD ?!
I agree, EB3 is doomed and I agree its better to accept the fact but dont agree that IV has forgotten EB3 (I can understand your pain).
also as far as comprehensive Immigration reform is consodered...I would say whether anyone likes it or not. Its just for votes (fight is so as to who gets thec credit DEMs Or REPUBLICANS). I am againsit as it promotes giving amnesty to illegals.

don't join IV just to declare your GC.
u leeched here and never contributed and now joining to tell everyone that u have GC now. Get lost.
What nonsense is this.
Isn't this supposed to be a public forum that people can join and share updates. There is no disclaimer that one needs to donate to participate in discussions on this forum.
If donations are mandatory - this would have been a paid only website and access to all should have been restricted. I bet the participation and visibility of a useful site like this would be detrimental in this case.

Awesome, 7606 members. Need 1396 members in the next 12 days. means more than 100 members a day. Come-on guys. out of the 7606 members we need only 100 or so members to add one more member. That is a joke, we can do better.

No impact on BEC approvals on retrogression, BECAUSE THEY NEED TO GET I-140 to be approved, then only their case to be on the line for visa number. Now no premium processing, their I-140 is going to get approved dring May OR June 2008. Till then the guys with I-140 approved and filed in June 2007 get GC. BEC approvals on 2001, 2002, 2003 cases after june 30th (last date for premium) will be on above catagory.

You sure are doing great with your marathons and beers, but anyone not doing these is no less productive or less American that you are !!!
Canadian_dream, i fully agree and i have no intention of saying someone else is not productive.
I choose to see things this way for me. I just started an active life style, not too long ago.
I think i was quite productive before taking up some exercise.
would you agree that making some active choices in life style are better, and will help improve productivity a bit...
thanks for your time.

05/05/2008: USCIS Revises "Significantly" Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) Interpretation & Guidance 04/30/2008
I read it and seems to be complex to understand.
My I-140 was applied in Mar 2005, when my son was 20. PD became current in Jul 2007 and I-485 was filed. I-140 was approved in Oct 2007.
I have a question: Earlier, it was not possible for me to file I-485 for my son. Under new provision, is it possible?

I think current mad rush is because of following reasons.
1) Atlease 35K new H1s filed because of H4-H1 conversions. This is because of retrogression and H4s waited longtime to work and so they are desparate to work. We can eliminate this if we have I-485 filing provision without visa number availability provision of STRIVE act. These people deserve it until there no solutuon to Retrogression.
2) 70K visas are filed by Offshoring/Outsouring firms firms. This is where the actual problem is. They won't send all of them whom they file. They will unnecessarily waste all these H1s after getting approvals. I know so many visas are wasted by Satyem, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, Accenture and all other offershoring/outsourcing firms every year.
3) 15K-20K by US educated students. These are deserved to file.
4) 10K - New H1s for real projects needed by clients. These are also deserve to file for H1.
So, here the problem is Offshoring/Outsourcing firms who are abusing the law by filing and not sending all of them. I can definitely say 85% visas filed by these firms every year are wasted and they won't send all these employees whom they file. They are using this H1 as seat reservation in a bus/train. They only send very few and waste so many visas every year. In all these firms, i know so many employees are having H1 stamped and waiting to come here. But those companies selects very few and send them here. If at all we need any reform in H1B, then it is here by not allowing H1s from these Offshoring/Outsourcing firms. Then everybody will be happy. These firms can use only L1 for their company needs so that H1 won't be abused.
Also, first point, we can solve by passing the curent version of STRIVE.
So, we need to oppose this new H1B reform and make to sure that Congress passes STRIVE act provisions.
Any thoughts from my friends?

Going back to the original subject of discussion - before the thread got hijacked by plainspeak and some really divisive and dangerous viewpoints - I just wanted to say I completely agree with Goodintentions and the post below. Thanks for the observations - certainly helps newer members who are getting used to the idea of meeting congressional offices. This bill helps all EB and we should be all for it and any other piecemeal bills coming up in the new Congress

You can decide that i am wrong and you have the right to do that and that is the beauty of a discussion.
For my benefit can you point out the views and statements of mine which were divisive and dangerous.

Lofgren's plan: H-1B green card
U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-San Jose, has an answer: a permanent visa, like the so-called green card. But, in this case, it would be a visa targeted to various categories of work, one of which would be technology. This would make sure that technology hires didn't get edged out by fashion models and minor league baseball players, who also use the H-1B.

Does anyone have a subscription by any chance?? The entire article is currently not accessible.

I have e-filed my EAD application on 3/27. Received receipts on 4/2 from NSC. But I still haven't got the Biometrics appointment. Did any one who e-filed got Biometrics appointment?
Last time I e-filed I got the Biometrics appointment letter in 10 days after filing. Are they sending them out now or using the previous ones?
Don't know what is going on after the new filing location changes. I saw a LUD on 4/13 after I sent my supporting documents.
Thank you.

We are all eligible for social security benefits (as long as we meet the point accrual requirements).
Not to say in the future there won't be a law that will make us ineligible.
QUOTE=rmdsouza]Immigration reform will not take place unless the lack of reform costs the government. Now, we all know that H1-Bs pay Social Security Tax and Medicare Tax. Also, according to the rules, we are not eligible for the benefits. Considering the average pay of a H1-B is $60000. This unfair tax amounts to about $2300 per/year/person. Now there are about 350,000 H1-B stuck in Labor for the past 2-3 years. The total amount in unfair tax is nearly
$2.4 BILLION!!! (I am being very conservative about this figure)
Maybe they will pay attention if a lawsuite is filed to recover these taxes..
Just my two cents worth...[/QUOTE]
