There are websites that the US consulates maintain listing the case numbers with their status. I am currently waiting for my H-1B visa petition decision in hyderabad. Below is the link the website maintained by the US consulate in hydererabad. There are similar websites for other US consulates in India
221(g) Refusals - U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad, India (http://hyderabad.usconsulate.gov/221g.html)
221g covers a broad sprectum of pending cases, be it name check or any other administrative processing. I personally was requested additional information that I have submitted about 5 weeks ago. This website is update twice weekly with each case status (pending, awaiting petitioners response, send passport).

Hi,
My 9th year H1 expires this month and I am planning to use EAD to continue in my job (not extending my H1B). Can you please tell:
1) What do I need to do to with respect to Employer and USCIS to move to EAD status from H1B?
2) I read in some forum posts: there is a new law OR amendment - people working on EAD with adjustment of status will be deported.. we need to continue maintaining H1B status..is it legitimate?
3) My current Advance Parole is valid till Oct'09. As I move to EAD, is AP renewal required for any other reason other than travel purpose?

All,
My friend works as an internal auditor within a big 4 acccounting firm. His practice is doing quite badly. As there are tons of different practices within this firm, he is thinking about transferring. But his PERM was filed for the internal audit manager position and his I-140 has alreday been approved. If he transfers to a function unrelated to internal audit within his firm (e.g. external audit, tax, fraud, etc.), would there be a problem?
Can anyone here provide some guidance or point him to the right discussion thread?

I could take upto 3 months of sabbatical partially paid (1st month:100%, 2nd,3rd-50%) - I am currently on H1 Visa and working for the employer who sponsered by GC. I would like to know if there is any effect of taking sabbatical on my pending I485 ?

I do have house here and I am 6th year of H1B, I did appeal on my I-140. If that gets denied I have no option than going back. In that case I have to sell my house or file bankruptcy foreclosure +++.

You need to be careful here. If the H-1B was approved as a change of status (COS) last year, you may have automatically changed to H-1B status on the start date. If you did not work for the employer, you then violated H-1B status.
If the H-1B was not approved as a COS, you have stayed in H-4 status. The H-1B approval could be used to get a H-1B visa, however you would need a letter from the H-1B employer confirming that there was still a job for you. The consulate would probably need this since it has been a year since the H-1B was approved. Otherwise, the H-1B is valid until the expiration date, unless the employer revokes it with CIS.

Yes, this is very sad. I did receive the same email. Monthly $10 wouldn't be much. May be you can get rid of one pay channel or the munchies from grocery store. That's the only sacrifice you had to do !
