back in our o'l days we used to say time will come that people will line up for visa to work in India. I kind of see this first article towards that end coming to reality. B'lore is the second choice for people to work outside USA. wow that is great to know.
Tech job moving abroad? Offshore yourself with it!

San Francisco - If your job is moving overseas, maybe you should move with it. Many American IT workers have looked with increasing worry as programming and datacenter jobs shifted to India, China, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere, with companies seeking cheap labor and Internet connectivity making offshoring a plausible business option. Or perhaps your job is staying in the United States, but being handled by an H1-B-visa-holding immigrant or a foreign consultancy such as Tata Consulting Services and Wipro that tends to import its own workers. While some companies have found offshoring to incur more costs than savings when management and quality issues are factored in, it's clear that IT jobs have been globalized and will stay that way.

Even if your job is not leaving the United States, you may want to move overseas to a tech hotbed to develop new skills or simply to gain the experience of living abroad.
[ UseInfoWorld's interactive map to learn about 12 hot cities and 6 regions you should consider for tech jobs abroad. ]
The most popular types of tech jobs outside the United States vary considerably, and emerging IT centers are themselves trying to diversify their own areas of expertise. But as a gross generalization, product support and business process development positions are more likely to be in India than in Indianapolis; embedded software development positions are more likely to be in China than Cincinnati
Outsourcing yourself to another country is not a new idea. Dubai, in the middle of the Arabian desert, has more ex-pats from around the world, with the majority Yanks, than local residents.
Taking an assignment in another part of the world -- especially in economically emerging countries -- will enhance your r??sum?? and your chances of getting a better job once you get back to the United States, say the experts. [Story continued below the map].
"There is a tremendous demand. Every CEO worldwide is interested in China as a market," says Sam Lee, managing director of the consultancy Dextrys.
And these executives want IT people who have experience working there in order to liaise with local executives.

The paths to working overseas
How realistic is it to move overseas for work? The answer varies based on the country and, of course, your personal circumstances. Family considerations -- such as finding a job for your spouse and a school for your children -- can make an overseas move much harder for a family than for a single person. In terms of the basic process, however, there are three routes to getting a job overseas.
The first is to get a work visa in the destination country, the equivalent of the H-1B program in the United States. This typically requires that the employer sponsor you and go through a process proving you are not taking a position a local could fill.
The second is to get a work-rotation visa in the destination country, the equivalent of the L-1 program in the States. This type of visa lets companies rotate employees among their offices in various countries. It's often used for executives to help them gain experience across different corporate units but can be used for other positions as well. Global consultancies, federal agencies, and multinationals are the typical venues for such positions.
The third is to use dual nationality you may hold, such as from being the spouse or child of a foreign national, to seek work in that other country. After all, as a citizen of that nation, you have the same employment rights as any other citizen. (The fact that you are also a U.S. citizen doesn't matter, at least in countries that allow dual citizenship.)
The fourth is to set up your own company in the United States and be a consultant overseas.
Some locales, like Costa Rica, actually make it easier for foreigners to come in and start a company rather than come in as an employee who might be taking a job away from a local.
The top regions and cities to explore for overseas tech jobs

The indian consulate in NY states that one can apply for a renewal a year before his/her passport expires. Check out this link.
Here is the statement
Application for a new passport has to be made when applicant's old passport has completed 10 years (Final or F). The Application for a new passport can be made also up to one year before the expiry of the Passport.

Thanks Chandu...
Never knew somebody had compiled such a large list!!!
I think this thread is a great way for people to share their experiences with consulting companies. Nothing like first hand information from people who have lived and learnt. However let's keep it positive. No unnecessary rants, if someone feels their company is bad, then by all means state it, but I hope we do so in a reasonably civil manner so as to keep the moderator's job nice and easy :)

Hey BacktoSchool
If you have EB3 2002 labor approved( I have not seen that in your post) now.
If the above statement is true, then File another labor in EB2 through perm which will be approved in 6 months.
Get I-140 of both EB3 and EB2 labor approved via premium.
USE EB3 priority with the EB2 labor, that means you can file for I-485 and get EAD because the proprity date EB2 category is accepting is Jan-2003 and your priority is June 2002.
Think on this, ask your employer and lawyer, couple of my friends are doing this.
In max six months time you will be eligible for I-485

As per suggestion by members of the forum, I am planning on using a good attorney to file my appeal.
The new attorney for my company is 'Law Offices of Slowik & Robinson LLC' (http://www.s-r-law.com/) based in Columbus, OH and is supposedly very reputable and well known.
If you guys have heard of them or know about them, please drop a few lines here. This will help me make a decision as to stay with the new company attorney or go to much bigger firms like Murthy LLC.
Thanks.

Hi All,
Now there are 3 possibilities for "alien receipt number" that is supposed
to be written behind my photos to be included with I-485:
-1- the filed i-140 receipt number
-2- a number that appears in i-140 approved letter
-3- the A# from my F1-OPT-EAD (this is called "alien registration number for sure")
Any more clarifications on which one of the above three is actually "alien receipt number"?
Thank you so much!

but if i go through a regular divorce process is that okay for the USCIS?
You are not getting it. If you file for divorce, your spouse won't get GC, whichever way you want to twist it.

Glad to have been of assistance and happy that the IV core played the greatest part in getting the story out. Lets keep our eyes and ears open as we look out for more opportunities. There is a potential opportunity from this article shared by gonecrazyonh4 : http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=9627&postcount=321
I looked around the site and found out that the misleading article was an op-ed and that the paper actually has someone dedicated to immigration issues. I found the following info, it might be worth following up as part of telling the other side of the story and correcting misperceptions that may have been created :
Brenda Gazzar : brenda.gazzar at dailybulletin.com, Immigration and Ethnic Issues (909) 483-9355
More contacts here : http://www.dailybulletin.com/contactus
Note that this was written by a "guest" columnist. Go ahead and write to the reporter. Happily this is a small local paper, in a pretty Republican district, any article that throws in allegations about Asians and then terrorists cant be taken seriously.

I traveled- chicago-frankfurt-bangalore- H1B extended but visa stamp expired. No one asked anything while going.
While coming back they checked my AP at bangalore only (Check-in, indian immigration and boarding). no one asked for it in Frankfurt.
on I-94 that they give in flight, leave the visa issuance date blank (air line crew did not understand what AP is?).

Last week I e-filed my AP (I-131) renewal and sent documents to TSC. Soft LUD today, it is in "Testing and Interview stage.
Is this stage generally expected for renewal of AP? I am not sure why the online message says "request for appointment reschedule" although my application is to renew AP.
Did any one go through this process before? pls share your experience.
Here is the status from the website

Always play safe. Not all the immigration lawyers have the same answers. You might be right on several occasions, but the company will always go with the advice from the company lawyers. I have faced several idiotic decisions from my company lawyers which screwed me up big time in my GC process. But I have always played safe because I need the support from my company. When you take an offer from the new employer you do not know how good/bad are those company attorneys are. So play safe as it will cost you heavily.
NOTE: Having waited for several years with patience, develop the patience to wait for 6-8 months after 485 filing to be on safer side. Also invoking AC21 exactly after 6months does not create a good impression on you from your current employer as well as from the potential future employer. Always have a valid reason for invoking AC21 and do not invoke just because you can invoke. My 2 cents.
How do you prove to USCIS that your notice date is Aug 3 bcos I suppose in yr receipt notice, the date mentioned is of august.
Thanks

My attorney applied for me. I am not sure what needs to be done if you want to apply yourself. AP will be valid for 1 yr and requires renewal every yr.
Thank you for your help. I really appericate your response.
I have one more question. How I can apply for AP? How long AP is valid for?
