Well I managed to pickup Leopard & a tshirt from Regent st. It was pretty mad in there. I took some shots with my Nikon + sigma 30mm f1.4 but I've yet to process them.
It was fun waiting around if only to see the hordes of people and interest in what is... a software update.

Lemme' guess - it's going to be distributed through the app store, and everytime there is an update, you have to download an 8 GB install program for each update, ala XCode 4
Yeah, lack of incremental updates for the Mac App Store in particular is a bit of a problem.
Personally I'd like to see all 3 options thus proposed available for Mac users: A Mac App Store initial download option, a DVD, and a USB drive. That way, people can pick whichever one they need or want.

Are you saying you're happy it costs $99? You don't want to pay less, no? The more complaining and bad feedback we give Apple that this service is simply too expensive the better, and the better chance we have they will begin to pay attention to loads (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=.Mac%20too%20expensive&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) of posts/blogs/and stories on this. I feel sick when I have to tell someone how much it costs. I mean they say .Mac syncing is included! You have to pay to sync computers that you payed money for, and worse still you have to give it to the company you bought the computers from?? Give me a break! GMail is free too. iWeb provides little bandwidth, and the whole this is wrapped-up with a tiny storage package. And I don't think the solution is for Apple to give us more storage. I would prefer a cheaper price to more storage any-day. If you want moe storage then you pay $99, otherwise this should cost no more than $49 per year. At the VERY MOST!!
Well, now Apple's onto your little scheme and they'll NEVER charge less!
Seriously, though, I doubt Apple cares what people are saying on the MacRumors forum. I'd of course like them to up the storage too, and what I really want is a spam filter in the webmail. It's why I never check my .mac account anymore. Way too much spam.

Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?
Not from the full size picture, it appears Obama is drinking water as well.
Actually, I only see two glasses of wine at the table...

I scored two 32GB iPad1s from Verizon on Friday in South Portland Maine.
I kept check the online site all day in case the local Verizon store was out, but the Verizon online prices were still at the pre-sale price. ($529, $629, $729).
I just noticed now (Sunday, 9 PM EDT) that the Verizon online iPad LANDING page states that the iPad1-Mifi combos begin at $429 ($100 less than Friday). However, when you click on "Build" package, you are taken to the page with the OLD (pre-sale) prices.
Maybe they are waiting until Monday AM to fix the "build" page, but you can RIGHT now short circuit it and jump right to the individual combo package pages.
16GB-mifi $429

32GB-mifi $529

16GB-mifi $629

The Wifi only versions will probably NOT be offered online.
It is also my assumption is that these prices will NOT be available in the stores, because when I scored my two 32GB wifi only, the clerk told me that there was not a SINGLE mifi to be had in the state of Maine.

Apart from the backlit keyboard, choice of screen (which is also larger), aluminium casing, expresscard.
Some aren't that convinced that it's worth the extra coin though, and I can empathise with that view too.
OSX alone is worth spending 10 grand on a laptop. We are so lucky to have this capitalism thing. Otherwise with communism a Mac will indeed cost a year's harvest of grain.

I'll second that, no intel 3000 will be entering my house
And I doubt that there will be a backlit keyboard again. As I said in the last thread apple took it out for a reason not for fun
And that reason was? Thinness? Cost? Do you have any evidence to back this up?
I think it was simple economics - take out the BL keyboard to get the cost under $999 and keep the margins at 30%.
However, as tech gets more mature, and the R&D Cost is recouped for the new design, I think they can re-add the BL Keyboard w/o sacrificing the $999 Price-point or the 30% margins.
As you said, it wasn't just "for fun", but "for profit" and if they can maintain that profit, and return a marquee feature like the BL Keyboard, why not?

I live a minute away from Stonebriar but I seriously dislike that mall. I'll be at Willow Bend around 4:30!
I really dislike ALL malls, but Friday I will have to suck it up. It will be a game time decision between WB and SB.

Could be that the 400D came with the latest software. Have you tried getting an update from the Canon website (DPP 2.2 etc). I can PM you the version numbers of the various utilities later on if you want?
Thanks but, yes I spent hours on it the day I realized there was a problem. First reinstalling, then checking for updates and after a lot failure I checked the forums at dpreview and found that I was not alone and that it was in fact the OS update that caused it.
Canon's site even acknowledges the problem.

Not a good move. I travel around the us and for rural (Ennis, TX 2G or none) or too many users , not enough bandwidth areas (south beach, Miami ) this would be a disaster. I'll stick with my navigon. Not to mention overseas when you shut off your DATA access to not get billed $1000 for data usage. MTS

I find it sad that some people know the freakin actor's names of the Apple ads.......
To be fair, Justin Long's name was known before the Apple ads. As well as John Hodgman's. Justin for Dodgeball, and John for his stints on the Daily Show.

Ok. up to 2TB, currently 64GB... we need this option in all of apple's portable devices!!!!!
How about an iPhone case that can fit 10- 64GB cards in it. Talk about expansion. Add to that a mini HDMI port.

Tounge-in-cheek comment, but I am somewhat miffed at Apple because of this.

Also the guy is pointing to the camera/LED flash in the second video. And the camera looks different, maybe a little smaller? And there is a little screen around the two, which catches the light at one point.

Wow this is big! I'm not sure but hasn't it been like forever since Mac had 5% marketshare? Over 5% must put them in the top 5 pc makers? Maybe top 3? This is already huge growth, if they get to 10% or more look out!
The jerks who make viruses for windows will take the time to make them for Mac which would suck:mad:
Great time for us Mac owners:D

According to IDCs report, the growth puts Apples market share at 5.8 percent (fourth place overall), ahead of Toshiba at 4.2 percent. Dell topped the U.S. market with 31 percent, but suffered a negative growth rate of -6.7 percent. The top 5 is rounded out by HP with a 22 percent share and Gateway with a 6 percent share.

Anyone else think this is a little too public? And it's not a very comfortable place to sit having coffeeno matter how good the food is. I imagine a couple of billionaires could have found a more comfortable and more private place for coffee and a chat, unless they're being deliberately "public".
Is this how they squash a rumour in sily-con valley? Media says these two hate each other's guts. Be seen being nice to each other in public.
Of course.
