I was just curious to know and the reason why I asked was, if you read all the posts on this thread, one person (sheela) had a similar 'house visit' by an ICE agent...who was asking questions mostly on wire transfers...so, was trying to see if there was any similarity in both the cases?
The simplest and easiest case for transferring money is because we dont know if we will ever get GCs, and our jobs are not guaranteed as we are on H1, so we can say we feel safer to keep the money back in home country than in this country and hence transfer the money.
BTW, bujjigadu123 , your visit was scheduled for last week if I am right going by your OP, can you pls let us know what happened

I am traveling this month end to India via Frankfurt. I am on AP. I checked with German consulate in US and officer told me we need transit visa both ways (going and coming back). there are no exceptions. He confirmed the same twice when I went in person to get Transit visa.
I would rather listen to German consulate office rather than interpreting stupid sentences on German consulate web site. So please do get Transit visa with 2 entries.

As IV grows maybe this is a help IV can extend to all its donor members and help them if they get in such extreme distress situations. This is one of the ideas we are thinking for our members in the donor group.

If you are taking a supplementary examp of one subject of your previous sumester clearly says you have not graduated on Dec 2000, but only after June 2002. I dont' think any school give away degree without completing all exams.

so is it the notice date or recipt date that counts.. If someone filed on July 2nd, but the notice date is August 15, where do I coutn 180 days from.

Most of the people affected by the July Visa bulletin are highly skilled people who have the capacity to buy houses, but are not investing in houses, since their future in US is not secure until they get Green Cards.

If Congress passes a law to give speedy Green Cards to these highly skilled people ASAP; these highly skilled people, who have good jobs and capacity to buy houses inspite of the difficult situation regarding getting loans etc, will help US tide over the current difficult housing situation.
oddly enough I was under the same impression and started a poll to see how many IV members would buy a house as soon as they got their GC. The results were very surprising:

I did search this with given phrase.. All the search results I see are directed to university websites.. primarily referring to I-20 validity. May be since universities are a little particular about status issues, informing the rules in advance.
In my wifes case, the company policy is not include on the payroll until the first project starts and after that they pay even on the bench. And so far no one (primary) was denied GC from her company. We didn't realize the problems earlier.. she was willing to work earlier.. but since all the clients were asking for SS#, they asked her to wait till she gets one. She soon got accepted by a F500 client, but since the director was on vacation, the the project didn't start till early june 06.. I was a little worried, so though my lawyer didn't ask, she asked her employer for an employment letter. We may be able to request additional letters if USCIS issues reasonable RFE from company. Well.. there is no point in discussing my case further except for stress relief..:(.. what ever happens happens.

That is one of the points raised in this current letter campaign for admin fixes.

Immigration Daily's recent comment (11/30/07 ID) on the status of FBI name check delays resulted in the following response from USCIS Office of Communications Bill Wright:

I read somewhere that doctors abroad who do the tests for consular processing cannot be used for AOS medicals.
u'll get RFE only if theres is a mistake in medicals, if there is NO medicals in the 485 packet, i think ur appln will be outright sent back.
whats ur PD, if its in the range of 2000 u still have hope that in next few months ur date becoems eligible for AOS.
ive heard that there are some doctors out there (of questionable integrity) who accept cash and give out medical reports. even tho this is a backdoor approach, u can make a few calls and give it a try. to make ur case more genuine, try to get a list of all attributes recorded in the blood and skin test, and get those done promptly done in india. atleast let the doctor copy over ur wifes actual stats rather than inventing it. If ur case is genuine, may be someone will be merciful to help u out of ur predicament.
Preponing visa interview without very valid reason cud be harmful. u never know, if they catch ur wife telling a lie then ull be walking on thin ice.
last year my friend visited india...he is on 7the year H1, and got 3 yrs extn based on 140. he had attached copy of approved 140 as proof...the chennai visa officer only asked him "is ur company paying for ur GC or you urself" ..he answered Company is paying full amount. and they gave him the visa. :-) if Govt is using approved 140 to give 3 yrs extn, obviously they know the intent to get GC...i dont believe telling truth that ur company is processing GC for you is going to harm you.

Still waiting for FP ,called USCIS Customer service on Nov 06th,2007,rep advised to call after 30 days to file SR.
She mentioned delay is because my application was sent to Nebraska as it should have been,Nebraska transferrd to California ,California did my ecept and EAD and sent back to Nebraska for further action....don't know when.
I know people filing later than me and PD in 2006-2007 got their FP notices and FP done...

Dear IV folks,
After a long long 7 years I finally received my Green Card y'day.
If not anything... this process does forcefully teach patience, hope, anger mgnt & gives a new understanding of terms UNFAIR & UNJUST.
My app did experience all the delays ..Backlog centers, company change, date portability, NameCheck..
For expediting Namecheck & Serv. ticket I had written/fax/calls to almost everyone in govt. White House, First Lady, DHS Dir, TSC Dir, USCIS Dir, Senator...
Not sure if anything worked, but finally 180 day rule might have helped.
Finally ...it's a great sense of relief.
I was desperately needing it now as I wanted MBA loan & change of field etc.
Special thanks to pappu,logiclife,berkeleybee,Googler ...you guys are the lighthouses in this long tempest.
It's amazing that someone whom you don't know & have never met, inspire & guide so many others.
All the very best to everyone & I hope everyone gets their GC in a FAIR order - FIFO -.

Customer Service creates a service request and send just standard off the shelf letter saying wait we are processing your case. The letters used to say 3 months but now sayd 6 months.
I think a lot of ppl in this forum are under the misunderstanding that once their date becomes current they will get Green Card soon. That is reaslly not true and once your date becomes current its just another battle all over again.
Some ides that I have heard work are
1) Calling congressman/senator and asking them to help your case.
2) Writing to Ombudsman.
Since no one in America does much of anything in December I am planning to start trying with congressmans office in mid Jan. I have to do something and try - I cant keep sitting hands folded. Or they will say quota is over before we know it - remember ROW is at 2005.

But, Mpadapa has some reality. That's what we are seeing in last 3 - 4 bulletins. A slow but steady movement.
Atleast with current movement we can plan in what period we can expect our case will clear.
