There isn't a single added feature listed there to make it worth the extra ~$100 to get a new iPhone instead of the identical iPhone 4 at discount.
Oh, the A5 isn't a reason? Really?

Wouldn't that be so annoying in the dark, like the backlight on the keyboard of a MBP when your watching a movie?
Turn down the brightness. The HTC Touch pro could dim the leds. It used a capacitive bottom panel with buttons underneath, similar to the way that the Magic trackpads work. Maybe the whole bezel would be capacitive and the bottom portion would have an indent and a button, where you only go home with a firm press on the panel, and the home button lights up when you run your fingers over it?

That would be the iPad 2, which can already do 1080p gaming.
Yea, I agree with this. Looks like Apple is going to use the iPhone and iPod as their DS and the iPad as their SuperDS and Game Console.

i dont know if it was posted yet but god please put out an iphone with a physical keyboard.
IMHO, adding a physical keyboard will most likely add thickness to the iPhone device & that goes against what Apple are doing. I could be wrong but it seems that one of Apple's main design focus has been to get thinner & thinner with each new revision of the product line. Therefore, I think that Apple will "unfortunately" not be adding a physical keyboard to the iPhone design anytime in the near future. :o

In that case, bring it on, I eat punks like you for breakfast! :D
Maybe this should be a new feature for the folding widget: to look when you will be overtaken by someone or when you overtake someone.
Actually, I should be able to do it, you would have to choose your targets yourself though. I will not be able to provide you with the closest threats and/or overtakes, but if you know who you want to track, it's not that hard to show/calculate.
I'll first clean up the code, add detailed stats, Then i'll redesign the layout and incorporate the threats/overtakes (this might take a while - busy period @ work).
Now if someone would post this widget in this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=128541) thread i'd be a happy man. I would do it myself, in fact i almost did...
Come to think of it, asking is the same as posting it myself but... bah.. lol prrt <over and out> sry

I'm obviously missing something obvious - where is the text of the cease and desist letter. Is it contained in one of the links in the original article?

imagine being able to walk around a store and scan items with your iphone for the company's information about the product. That's the kind of stuff we're gonna see in the not-so-distant future imo.
Ummm. What about just snapping the barcode or data-matrix stamp on the product and looking it up, like you can already do?
Seems like a lot of un-necessary fuss.

2011. People are still watching TV? Scary.
I remember Spock from Star Trek basically made a comment about TV like that. I believe the episode was called "Bread and Circuses". Spock didn't say Scary but since he is half human he probably thought that.

As if security concerns weren't bad enough if your phone gets stolen.., If this is used to pay automatically for services and merchandise, what's to prevent a thief from running up a huge balance by using a stolen iPhone's RFID? Here in the UK we have to enter a PIN when using a credit card, and that seems to deter thieves. However, there are some places that require only a signature for some bank cards - my ex's purse was stolen in London and within the thirty minutes it took to report this to the bank 300 GBR pounds were charged to her bank card. Using a mobile phone for payment is not new - it's just a stupid idea.
Your concerns are understood. My question is: how does this differ from having your wallet or credit card stolen? Amazing that we'll secure our computers up tightly to prevent online security breaches but we'll let the sketchy-looking waiter walk away with our credit card in the restaurant.....

Apple never said they removed the BL KB because it is a luxury feature. In fact, none of us knows why Apple removed it.
You right. But that's a very common theory here on these threads. I use that analogy to suggest how ridiculous that would be if Apple really did remove it to 'differentiate' the product lines.

hmm, what are the chances of there being prototype iphones linked to tmobile and verizon's networks existing in the 'wild'? i'm assuming that while websites such as MR can tell what kind of device (ie, ipad, imac, etc) is connecting to their servers, there isn't a way a to tell which network it's connecting from (ie, att, verizon, comcast)..?

People kept coming by asking us what we were queuing for, none of them looked at me seriously when I told them we were waiting to get into the Apple Store!
same here. it was a bit embarrassing to say i was queuing for an operating system!

And as to the displays, I quote the May 2011 issue and its preliminary findings: (this is also in response to all the "yeah, but a Xoom has a wide-screen format")
among the best tablet displays we've tested. It has excellent color and is viewable from almost any angle without degrading the image. The Motorola Xoom's display can be viewed from almost any direction too, but it loses more contrast at off-angles than the iPad
It's good to be square. Apple's approach has its advantages, too. In land-scape mode, for example, the display's greater height lets the e-mail app display more messages in the inbox, assuming you use the same size text as on other tablets. When you're typing in landscape mode, an iPad can accommodate a taller onscreen keyboard or more content on the screen above the keyboard. In portrait mode, its display is less cramped when you're Web browsing or reading a magazine or an e-book. And when you're playing games that take advantage of a display's height and width, that screen also allows for a greater range of motion.

hey i dont know about both MB and MBP being updated at the same time.
Not sure if it would make sense. there are limited Core 2 Duo's available.
How long can the limited supply situation be true though? I mean we're talking Intel here they must have huge amounts of manufacturing capability being ramped up for these chips. Possibly even being switched away from the production of Yonahs.
I guess we'll see. It's literally anyone's guess.

Exacly what a friend of mine said when he got his new macbook and found out he needed to buy new adapters since in the 3 years they removed many (such as the analogue audio ports)
I don't understand this. Could you or someone explain this to me please?

This is all they have now
MagSafe power port
Gigabit Ethernet port
Mini DisplayPort
Two USB 2.0 ports (up to 480 Mbps)
Audio in/out
Kensington lock slot
That audio in/out is definitely your standard headphone/mic connection. If you or your friend didn't understand this, I feel sorry for you.

Cancer or not, not eating any animal products whatsoever is going to make you quite thin. If for no other reason than most things have animal products thus there just isnt a lot to eat.

I still prefer the nation's fastest network (AT&T) over the most reliable (VZW) any day. Not to mention my GSM 32GB iPad 1 can be used internationally as well. Besides, in my neck of the woods, AT&T service has been very reliable for data consumption. No complaints here.
