Intrepid Explorers
I have just been laid off from my workplace of 20+ years. WooHoo!!!
Well, this year has been one of changes so far. And, there is certainly more to come. I had toyed with the idea of creating a Blog for quite a while now. And, with this big change in my life, now is as good a time as any.
The main reason why I had considered a Blog for the past year, or two, is that I had toyed for years with the idea of leaving my job. As most of you already know, I work in a factory. But, as a university graduate, this is something that had driven me nuts, for lack of a better term, for as long as I have been there. Without any intellectual and emotional stimulation it has been difficult to bear. I have tried many times to leave in years past. But, have not succeeded till now. The financial aspect of the job always held me. Hmmm. The evils of money. Well, that is a topic for, perhaps, another day.
In any case, the original plan was for me to ask about a possible layoff at the end of this year. So, when they came asking for volunteers early in the year. I volunteered. Why not! Just a bit ahead of schedule. But it was the impetus to just "do it". Now, half a year later, it is finally done.
The plan is to go back into an intellectual pursuit. And, teaching English abroad is the plan. With my university degree, all I have to do is to obtain a teaching certificate and I will be off. The research is done. The layoff just happened. And, I now have the time to fulfill the plan. This should be fairly straightforward as the severance package will last about a year. I can pay off my debts, take the certificate course, and then head out into the academic world afterwards.
Now, back to the main reason why I started my Blog. What better way to keep everyone updated on my progress and my life! My adventures abroad might also be of interest to some when the time comes, too. South Korea and Taiwan are my two main countries of interest thus far. Time may change these selections. But, for now, and in that order, they are the ones.
For now, I will take some time off for some much needed rest and recuperation. I will pursue my CGI art in the interim as therapy for my damaged soul.
