New Job In Incheon South Korea

Nice To Meet You

It's been about nine months since my last entry in this blog.  Time passes quickly these days and even quicker as the end of my two year long "vacation" draws to a close.  I just received an offer of a teaching position in South Korea today and thought it a good time to update the blog.

My plans for taking a few language courses have come to near completion.  English grammar classes and Mandarin classes have ended for the session.  But, the Korean class I wanted keeps getting cancelled.  Maybe this spring/summer I will finally get into it without it getting cancelled.  Maybe.

As for the CELTA course I wanted to take, that is another story.  As I am currently on unemployment benefits, the government refuses to pay me for the time I would need in order to take this course.  As it is a full time course, I would be unavailable to work.  And, as such I would no longer qualify to receive benefits for the duration of the course. That means the course suddenly jumps in price to about three times what it would originally have cost; the original cost + the money lost from no benefits being paid + my living costs during this time.  That's how well the government takes care of you when you want to improve your own situation.  And people wonder why I want to leave this country.

Anyways, the ball is now fully in motion and the visa process and all the required paperwork is next.  This will not be fun.  But, there is an end to it and I will pursue it to its' conclusion.  And, that is the news for now.
