In general a person who is in the US should have a valid and unexpired passport at all times. In addition, there is a whole loooooong list of documents that you attach to the I485- your attorney should advise you on this. The most important once for employment based immigration are documents showing legal status up until the I485 application and current offer letter from your company. There are many many more documents you need to provide...search the net for the necessary documents...

A day after President Obama gave a speech on immigration, Senators Richard Durbin, Harry Reid, Robert Menendez and 30 others re-introduced the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act that would allow young undocumented people to apply for legal status if they join the military or attend college for two years.
Each year about 65,000 undocumented students who were brought to the U.S. by their parents, often as very young children, graduate from high school and face a bleak future because of their status. Last fall, despite President Obama�s strong support, the DREAM Act passed the House but failed to attract the 60 votes needed to end a Senate filibuster.
Chung-Wha Hong, executive director of the New York Immigration Coalition welcomed the move, but pointed out that the bill faces a slim chance in the current Congress and said the President should use the authority of his office to protect young undocumented immigrants.

EAD, AP & FP notice are sent directly to the applicant. If you see the status of AP as document mailed then you should get within 2/3 days as they send by DHL. I got mine in 2 days, my wife also got in 2 days
If your attorney filed your case, then:
EAD is sent directly you
FP is sent to you and your attorney
AP is sent to your attorney.....
All these are sent by USCIS via regular mail.....
Your attorney might have sent the AP documents to you via DHL...

We are not sure of the chronology of events such as your wife's pregnancy, Your job change, your insurance start date. If you guys had individual insurance before your wife's conceiving, insurance cannot deny coverage as pre existing condition. Make sure you put these events in a time line and rule out the possibility of coverage. if you have done so, you have to explore other options.
As far as changing job is concerned, make sure your job requirement matches the same and similar concept. If you have used AC21, why not use it one more time? Of course, your PD and other personal issues might be stopping you from doing so. But if you are just thinking about using AC21 again, dont worry. Talk to a good attorney and drink the kool aid again.
The easiest way to get through this is to get under group coverage. I will let you know if there is any way you can sneak into group coverage. but the one I can think right on top of my head is joining an employer with health insurance

I think EADs are sent to the applicant and AP to the attorney...had the same in my case...plus seen lots of folks here say the same thing...
Arent you concerned that if its approved on Oct 1, and you didnt get it, then where is it? Did you ask them as to why you havent gotten it in mail even though it has been approved a month ago? Also, did you check with your lawyer if he got anything?

By sending this you merely want to draw attention about something which you believe or hope should happen, and unless immediate attention is drawn you might suffer a loss (in this case, visas may be used up by others simply because someone did not care about your case, or just took the case to process and then went on long holiday etc. Such thing can happen and do happen particularly when paper files have to be worked with). What is received date? What is delivered date? How come there are 6 days gap between those days? Even if you assume that the receiving guy took 6 days to lift his hand and receive, how come the received date is before the delivery date? So he received it even before it was delivered to him.

It says otherwise approvable but for name check. Does that mean Visa numbers are already allotted for these 47K cases hence they wont eat up the visa numbers?
Visa number is allocated when the case is finally adjudicated. Hence, they will certainly eat up visa numbers. Maybe for EB 10 - 15 K and rest for FB. Just a guess.
