Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?

Not from the full size picture, it appears Obama is drinking water as well.

Actually, I only see two glasses of wine at the table...

I'll second that, no intel 3000 will be entering my house
And I doubt that there will be a backlit keyboard again. As I said in the last thread apple took it out for a reason not for fun

And that reason was? Thinness? Cost? Do you have any evidence to back this up?

I think it was simple economics - take out the BL keyboard to get the cost under $999 and keep the margins at 30%.

However, as tech gets more mature, and the R&D Cost is recouped for the new design, I think they can re-add the BL Keyboard w/o sacrificing the $999 Price-point or the 30% margins.

As you said, it wasn't just "for fun", but "for profit" and if they can maintain that profit, and return a marquee feature like the BL Keyboard, why not?

What was Trump saying about our jobs going to China?

Trump also told CNN last year: "When it comes to manufacturing, China is making all of these products. And they could be made in North Carolina, they could be made in Alabama, they could be made in lots of our places. And right now they're not. Personally, I'd tax China very, very heavily. "

Second that. There's a niche market (I think) amongst a few for film. Unfortunately, its become really expensive proposition. Even if you pay $2 for a roll and $10 for developing/processing, its crazy expensive compared to digital. If they could some how make it cheaper it could be successful.

I have a couple of horses I could sell you for your buggy. You yourself have in one short paragraph identified why film is gone and ain't comin' back.

"Networking" in Windows CAN be hard. Because it provides a lot of flexibility and versatility. While MS does try to make "Home Networking" user friendly, I'm afraid I wouldn't say it's completely intuitive. But it's mostly because ppl don't RTFM! In this day, the internet has so many "guides" that it should not need a person with half a brain. Google is a really neat word ppl should learn. If they don't know about it by some chance...its in the dictionary! No joke!!!

Apple on the other hand, realizes this about some ppl who are "un-helpable" so their motto is to "dumb down the interface" so that ppl with 1/4 a brain can do many "computer tasks". But this doesn't really make a difference to ppl who require "powerful" networking, which includes all indirect benefits found in Windows...prolly grown since the intro of Windows NT. And that's why Windows has been the primary choice for industry. Not just your "word processing station" as well as evidently, the "server arena", but also as an interface to control machines from cash registers to robotic chained automation assembly lines that makes the actual computers!...including macs and iPhones! :p

Hey everybody, I'm curious if anybody knows of any programs on the Mac that can edit 3D video. I know iMovie is a no go and I'm doubtful that the FCX will support it, seeing how we barely support Blu-ray as it is

I'm open to all programs and price ranges, though for my own personal need, I'm not talking shooting with an EPIC RED or something, more consumer, $1,500 camera's which really are just filmed in 3D (not giving you actual control like Pro camera's).

Reason I say is, I would love to transition to that format or offer the option, even if it means saving the 3D footage for now on a server and eventually getting back to it (that is if the camera hopefully shoots in both formats at the same time...)

So any thoughts would be awesome.

Speaking of such things, I have seen the Barnes and Noble Nook. Ugh. Ick. Yuck. Disgustipating.

no offense.. but how old are you? the nook does a great job of being an ereader.. why would you expect it to be more than what its true purpose is? it sounds like you're over exaggerating things, as i've seen no issues like what you mention

Because you do contracts for the Department of the Navy does not mean you know everything. Also there is more tax dollars going to waste every DAY with the current administration.

Trust me I served for 21 years and saw waste fraud and abuse, and there aint a dam thing your going to do, as soon as you blow the whistle your career is down the toilet and that is active duty personnel and the civilian workers also.

This about sums it up to the OP you are replying to here. I've been in for 6 years (a bit less than you obviously) but I do concur.

Steve is an evangelist. Of course he was doing the talking, was talking too loud, and was doing the persuading.

All he wants from Google is to not be adverse to his goals.

His goals are both specific and fuzzy.

Steve is skinny. The turtleneck and the crossed legs are warming techniques. My son is skinny and he does the same thing. He needs to fly rockets at DeAnza College like Steve has. I opt for Steve to invite him.

Steve made a PUBLIC comment about Google about the "don't be evil" thing. Whatever they are talking about you can be sure it is Steve holding him to the fire on that promise.

You what the best part of that photo is? Both these guys felt like it was fine for them to sit outside a place and chat to begin with. That is the sort of CEO I want running a corporation.

I wasn't very fond of the utility panels on Mac OS X until I discovered that most of them were the same across a number of applications. After that I kind of love them for their consistency.

And for the record, I hate the cluttered toolbars in Word.

That is like shouting out who, what you are all the time 24/7. That is just information pollution.

Yet, people still use Twitter all the time.

I think there are some clues in the Dev build that point the way to the kind of 'cool' you allude to. While the face of the OS is the same for now, Apple has put the parts in place to either A) pop a new level of GUI goodness into 10.5 or B) allow developers to do it themselves.
The key to all this is Core Animation, which may end up being the biggest announcement at WWDC this year. Core Animation enhancements to the application Help menu, for example, indicate a totally new GUI direction. Floating 3D arrows point out features as you browse them with your mouse. The Time Machine interface similarly shows there are a lot of new and interesting GUI possibilities thanks to Core Animation.
I don't remember... Is Core Animation based on OpenGL?

I have a Treo and I love the keyboard but I have a hard time believing that a keyboard on an Apple branded phone would look good. I have yet to see any PDA phone that looked good with a keyboard. It just looks clunky. Maybe Apple can do it right. But all those chicklet sized buttons just look like a crazed Bedazzler-wielding mom attacted an innocent cell phone.

Ok... do people actually make money sitting around going "I think company X is going to release product Y soon." or is there more to it than that?

Because if that's all they do....................... then I predict MURDEROUS RAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGEEEEEE

Yeah a whopping 3V which means it will take 40% longer to recharge anything using the new connector unless they increase the amperage to compensate.

I assumed that Acc 3v meant power to the Accessory plugged in to the port. The iDevice itself would still charge from power on the data connection.
